SINGLE USE SCAFFOLD TOWER CHECK
This checklist should be carried out before the FIRST use of a newly erected scaffold tower and after any dismantling and rebuilding.
if a scaffold tower is to be used for a prolonged period of time then the WEEKLY SCAFFOLD TOWER CHECK for can be used going forward.
Please check that all elements stated below are present and correct against the scaffold tower in question.
If the scaffold tower is not satisfactory then report it to your manager IMMEDIATELY and DO NOT USE IT.

That I have carried out the relevant checks on the items listed and they are in a satisfactory state You have a copy of the manufacturers instruction manual to enable you to check the tower. Risk assessment to the tower exists, has been read and is understood. The environment is suitable for the safe use of the tower and not likely to have a detrimental affect. The castors or base plates in contact with the ground and bearing their share of the weight of the tower and that all four brakes are applied. The adjustable legs are only being used to level the tower and not for gaining height. The tower is level in all planes. The tower is built on firm and stable ground. Stabilisers are fitted (where required) and they are the correct size for the height of the tower. The feet are fully in contact with the ground and wing nuts are tight. The foot of the stabilisers are positioned to form a square. The bracing pattern used is in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. All the hooks on the braces fully engaged. All the handrails and mid guards are fitted in the correct positions. The interlocking devices locking the frames together are correctly engaged. The platforms are in the correct position on the tower. All the trap doors open to the outboard side of the tower. The working platform is at least 600mm wide. If the tower is single width, do all platforms have trap doors. If wind locks are fitted to the platform, check that they are engaged. Toe boards are fitted. If the tower has been tied in, check that the method is adequate and at the correct intervals in accordance with the manufacturer's instruction manual. You are aware of the maximum permitted load on the platform/structure. The Mobile Tower Scaffold will be erected at least four meters away from any overhead power lines. If necessary, has the work area been cordoned off.
