Type of Works: Solar PV Installation
Duration: 6 Weeks

At ECO2 we were very pleased to have to opportunity to carry out a ballast frame PV installation for Crick Software at their Moulton Park site in Northampton helping them on their energy efficiency journey.

We provided a full turn-key solution which included the structural survey of the building, design of the system, G99 application to National Grid, scaffolding, roof resurfacing works as well as the actual Solar PV installation.

The installation consisted of 90 X 410W JA Solar PV Panels paired with 46 X P850 SolarEdge optimisers and a SE30K SolarEdge Inverter. We also installed SolarEdge's CT Energy Meter to give a true understanding of how the energy generated is being used on site.

To mount the system we utilised the K2 Systems S10 Dome system complete with ballast.

We also installed Type 1&2 Surge Suppression at the incoming supply to the building to ensure all electronics have protection against any transient high voltage events.

The installation needed to maximise the roof space without comprising access to mechanical equipment as well as trying to minimise the shading impact of the parapet wall. Although we always champion SolarEdge, it is these types of installations where it really comes into its own, by optimising the panels, any shading caused by the parapet wall will only effect the panels shaded rather than impact the entire system which would occur on a standard installation.

This allowed us to maximise the space and in turn maximise the generation potential of the building.
